A series of 5 workshops to introduce clinical skills to students of herbal medicine. Students will work collaboratively to learn and practise skills.
Prerequisites:
At least 1 year of study of herbal medicine
Workshop 2 is required to be able to attend workshops 3 and 4
July 8, workshop 1: Intake Forms and History Taking
Create an intake form to get the most from your first appointment with a client.
Taking a comprehensive, compassionate and respectful health history
July 22, workshop 2: Introduction to Remedy Formulation and Treatment Plans
An introduction to formulating an effective remedy
Building a treatment protocol
Client instructions
Herb-herb and herb-drug interactions
This is a mandatory prerequisite to build skills for workshops 3 and 4.
August 5, workshop 3: Immune Function And Microbes
An overview of the immune system with a focus on pathogens and the herbal constituents and actions that counter them
Acute care remedy formulation and treatment plans with a focus on the immune, respiratory, and digestive systems
August 19, class 4: Chronic Illnesses
Remedy formulation and multi-stage treatment plans for chronic conditions such as IBS and fibromyalgia.
September 9, class 5: Bioregional Plants and Medicine Making Essentials:
A hands-on workshop using local wild medicinals.
Dates: Classes are held every other Saturday: July 8, 22, August 5, 19, September 9 (no class for the Labour Day weekend)
Time: 10 am – 4pm
Location: Dancing Willow Wellness Clinic, 215 Van Buren St, Kemptville
Cost: $120 per class.
